Competitive Dance
Our Competitive Dance Program, otherwise known as “Company” is made up of dancers between the ages of 5 and 18 who have an interest in taking their dance training to a higher level. Company dancers audition and are placed into one of 5 different groups based on age and skill level. These groups practice 2-5 days a week and compete 3-10 times per year. Our Company dancers compete throughout the Southeast and are highly regarded on the competition circuit.
If you are interested in Company for the upcoming year, we suggest taking as many classes in Progressive Program as possible, especially Ballet, Jazz, and Contemporary. Let us know if you have any questions, we are happy to help. Email Nancy Andrews for more information.
Interest Meetings
If you would like to learn more about our competitive program at APA, we are holding two Interest Meetings to give you a better understanding of our Company and answer any questions you may have. If you can’t make it to either Interest Meeting, please contact Nancy Andrews, our Company Director.

Friday Skill Series
Friday, May 1st, May 8th & May 15th | $27.00 | 7:30-9:00pm
Our Friday Audition Skills Series will focus on a variety of skills in preparation for auditions such as flexibility, strength, leaps, turns, and balance as well as going through the skills list. Dancers will be split into groups by age and will go through the full skills list with our Company Instructors – this is a great opportunity to freshen up on a variety of tech skills and build confidence as dancers work towards auditions for the new season.

Dancers auditioning for Company Programs at APA are highly encouraged to join us for our Combo Clinics, where our Company Instructors will teach, review, and offer corrections and critiques for the audition combos. Students will also be sent videos of combo choreography prior to the clinic, which they will need to learn and practice at home.

Company Summer Training
Are you ready to take your dance training to the next level? All current company and progressive level dancers (enrolled in levels 2/4/7/8/10/11) are invited to take part in our summer training, intensives, and workshops at APA. These opportunities are teacher recommendation based, so please let us know if you have any questions or need guidance finding the best options for your dancer. Current students can register through their portal or call us at 919-367-7210 and we are happy to help. Refunds are available through May 31, minus a $20 processing fee. Starting June 1, account credit will be applied minus the processing fee. Teacher recommendation is required for all new students – please email Nancy Andrews our Company Director, for more information.
Summer Skills Intensive
Half Day (Ages 10 & under): 3:00pm-6:00pm | $217

Join us this summer for a strictly TECHNIQUE-based camp. Dancers will be taught by various members of our senior staff on flexibility, stamina, injury prevention and strength. No choreography will be taught during this camp, to give dancers the time they need to focus on improving their fundamental skillset.

Summer Weekly Series

Company summer evening classes will be a four week class session that features a variety of styles and options for dancers. Dancers will enhance and refine their technique, skills, strength, and flexibility. All classes will be split by age and are offered as an unlimited class pass for the summer session

Ballet Intensive

All advanced dance skills are founded in a strong Ballet education. Dancers looking to hone their skills, improve their turnout, correct their alignment or just get back to basics, will truly enjoy this week. Each day will be dedicated to exploring various approaches to traditional Ballet class. Dancers hoping to be approved for Pointe in the fall are encouraged to take this Intensive.
