Duke Sports Medicine is now working with Academy for the Performing Arts to offer specialized care developed to help prevent injury and offer quality health care to young and adolescent dancers.

Dancer Wellness & Performance Screenings

Duke sports medicine experts are available to complete dancer wellness and performance screenings. They will be on-site at Academy for the Performing Arts once weekly and can create a plan to prevent injury and improve performance. To arrange someone to complete a wellness screen for your dancer, please book an appointment using the link below.

On-site Injury Assessments

Duke Sports Medicine experts are available to assess dance-related injuries. They will be on-site at Academy for the Performing Arts once weekly to help with any issues or injuries your dancer may have. Duke Sports Medicine offers preferred access appointment scheduling for injured dancers in our community. Fill out the form using the link below. Their team will contact you for an appointment, often same-day or next-day, with a Duke Sports Medicine physician or physical therapist.

Olivia Fleming, PT, DPT

Olivia DeSena Fleming is a Doctor of Physical Therapy who lives and works in Apex, NC. Her interest in physical therapy was initially sparked by her own dance injuries in adolescence. She has a special passion for working with dancers and enjoys providing sports medicine outreach to the APA community. Olivia is certified in Performing Arts Medicine through PAMA, and is a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy. She obtained her Doctor of Physical Therapy and BA in Exercise and Sport Science from UNC Chapel Hill, and works at Duke Physical Therapy in Apex.
