Dancin’ in the Streets

WE LOVE THE APEX CHRISTMAS PARADE! …Especially when the weather is gorgeous and the crowds are big. This past Saturday, 120 dancers and 30 float riders hit the street to show their holiday spirit for the 14th year in a row. Check out a little snippet in the video below. APA is at 15:33.

APA does Holiday Parties

For the past several years, APA has been thrilled to be a part of the Fit4Mom/Raleigh Stroller Strides Holiday Party.  FIT4MOM is the country’s largest fitness program for moms, offering pre- and post-natal fitness classes for every stage of motherhood. FIT4MOM Cary/Durham offers daily Stroller Strides workouts, 8-week Body Back health & fitness programs, and 5k, 8k, 10K & Half Marathon trainings for moms in the Cary, Apex & Durham areas.

They throw a huge holiday pot luck and we get to help out by hosting a free dance class for all the little ones. Ms. MK ran the show this year and we even brought along Sleeping Beauty to help out. It was a big hit and we hope to be back next year!

Holidays at APA

There is so much going on around the studio and it’s all crammed into just a few short weeks before the Winter Break. Here’s what you need to know;

Food Drive- We are so grateful for all that we have, but there are people, right here in Apex that are not so lucky. Last year we collected hundreds of pounds of food to bring to local charity organizations and we are looking forward to breaking that record this year. Drop off canned goods before the break and we will make the delivery to the Western Wake Crisis Ministry, right here in town. They are specifically in need of the following items, but any canned or dry food is appreciated. {Cereal, Pasta Mac and Cheese, Soup, Fruit, Beans, Tomato Sauce ie: diced, whole, etc., Flavored Tomato Sauces, Dried Milk}

Apex and Cary Christmas Parades (December 5th and 12th)- We are looking forward to dancing in these parades for the 14th time this year!! The weather should be beautiful, so come cheer on the dancers.

Holiday Dress Up Week (December 14-19th)- Show your holiday spirit by dressing up as your favorite winter character, or just wear red and green, or snowflakes, or anything that makes you happy!! We’ll have a photo booth to show off your outfit and be sure to grab a candy cane from the front desk. Here are some examples from last year.

Winter Break (December 20-January 3)- Enjoy the break with your family and we’ll see everyone back the week of January 4th. Have a safe and happy holiday season and Happy New Year!!

Baked Goods for a Good Cause

October 18, 2015

I am thrilled to watch our new Performance Group gear up for an exciting season of dancing all over Apex and the surrounding areas. Over the next several months, our new group of dancers will take the stage at various events to entertain all sorts of crowds.  We’re pinning down dates at nursing homes, children’s hospitals and festivals.

It has always been a priority for the studio to show our appreciation for the support that we have received in our awesome small town. We have always participated in the local parades, arts festivals, school fairs and flash mobs. For years, it has been our competitive company that gets out there and puts on the show, but with a rigorous competition and rehearsal schedule, it has become more and more difficult to find the time to give back to our community. So, this year, we created a group with that sole purpose in mind. This group is made up of 1st-12th graders who have a passion for dance, a love of performing and a desire to give back. Not only will they perform throughout the year, but they will participate in service projects as well.

The first of which was organizing a bake sale to raise money for the Ellie Helton Memorial 5K. The kids advertised, made posters, baked, manned the table, and were able to donate nearly $200 to the organization.

So, be sure to look for the Performance Group around town. We’ll keep you posted about their performances on Facebook.

Care Packages from Company

Each year our Company Members have a super fun lock-in at the studio where they play games, get to know each other, eat a lot of candy, and just hang out until the wee hours of the morning. This year, we decided to use some of that time to do something good for our community and open the dialog with the kids about people less fortunate then us.

We asked for donations for items to include in care packages for the homeless. Each dancer made their very own care package he or she could take home and give to the next homeless person they encounter. The kids were very excited to help and many of them took more than one.

A Royal Invitation

Some very special dancers were cordially invited to start dance lessons this week, with hand-delivered invitations from Cinderella and Aurora. We are so excited to have our new “Little Stars” start their dance adventure. We can’t wait to see you all in class next week!
